Class Description: This class is for beginners and for experienced artists who are feeling a bit rusty and want to go back and practice the basics of drawing. Lessons will include exercises to help you make the necessary connection between eye, brain, and hand that leads to good drawing; use of line, shading, cross hatching, stippling, and other means of creating a clear visual image, and using an understanding of concepts such as value, composition, perspective, and negative and positive space to create a satisfying picture. If you have taken drawing with me, you will practice the same skills but with new materials. As time goes by we will add color in some of our drawing.
For adults and youth ages 12 and up. Beginners or experienced artists wanting a refresher in drawing.
Class Size: Minimum 4, maximum 14
Required Materials: Pencil, an ordinary #2 pencil is fine. An eraser. Ink pens, I usually buy Pigma Micron , sizes 01, 05, and 08 give a nice range line width. Drawing paper, a 9" by 12" pad is a nice size, but you might find it handy to also have a smaller size to carry around for practice drawing.
$15 per lesson for members and $17 per lesson for all others. If you want to pay in full, pay for no more than 10 of the 12 weeks, that way if you need to miss one or two or if I have to cancel a class somewhere along the way you won’t have overpaid.
