Instructor: Caroline Henry

This class is for beginners or for experienced painters who want more guided practice. Open to adults and to older children—mature enough to work independently & not feel awkward in a class with adults 

$20 per week for LCAC members, $25 per week for non-members. Class includes basic instruction in color mixing, color layering, values, brush techniques, water handling, etc. We will paint from objects and from photographs.

Materials: If you have watercolor tube or pan paints, already, use them. Otherwise,some good colors are thalo blue, permanent rose is a nice red, and hansa (lemon) yellow, burnt sienna, Paynes gray, burnt umber, and yellow ochre. You need 140 pound paper, no smaller than 9” by 12”.

Bring brushes you have. I have brushes available for borrowing, and if you find some that you love, you can keep them by making a modest donation to the art center. Round brushes sizes 8, 10, and 12 would be excellent for this class. 

Minimum class size is four, maximum is 12.
